Healthy Fast Food

I am going to start eating healthy again, but I am approaching it differently this time.  I tend to have the same roadblocks pop up over and over again.  Before I start eating healthy I want to come up with multiple solutions for my roadblocks.  One of those roadblocks is eating fast food at lunch time, because it is what is convenient and available where I  work. I don't always have time or even want to pack a lunch, so I eat fast food.  This morning, I am going to do some research and find a few fast food lunches I can eat that won't kill the calorie/healthy budget. Option 1: Chick-Fil-A Grilled chicken sandwich and fruit cup.  400 Calories   **Information taken from http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/10-best-fast-food-meals#1 Option 2: Zaxby's 5 chicken fingers (no drink, no fries) 570 Calories Option 3: Zaxby's Kiddie Finger 600 Calories The next roadblock I run in to is convenience meals.  I don't really like cooking and I don't...

How to Survive DragonCon: My personal experience at DragonCon and some inside tips.

I love going to SciFi/Fantasy/Pop Culture conventions.  They are always an absolute blast.  I also think I learn something every year I go.  I'm going to break this down into categories to make it easier to browse through.  The categories are hotel rooms, room mates, people, activities, food, cosplay, and my recommended packing list. This is me at DragonCon 2009.  My first con and this is Day 2. First, I would like to say that if you do no prep work and just show up, you will still have a fantastic time. The first time I went was completely unplanned.  I happened to have the weekend off and I called up a friend to see what he was doing that weekend.  He casually remarked that he was going to DragonCon and invited me to go.  I bought a one day ticket and after spending the day there I upgraded to a full weekend pass.  I threw together a costume and fell in love with DragonCon.  You will see the weird and the wonderful and will look...

Update on Finding a Hobby

A few months ago I posted about trying to find a hobby.  I honestly haven't made much progress on that.  I thought this week with my time off would be a good time to really start exploring some of those things.  I decided to start by reviewing the original list and updating it/narrowing it down some.  The original post and list can be found here . After reviewing it, I have narrowed it down further from 25 to 10. I have also made some notes on a few of them. Archery - I like the idea of this, but I think it is a really expensive hobby.  I'm leaving it on the list for now, but I don't know if it will ever happen. Board Games/Gaming - I'm combining this one with Entertaining, because for me these two go together.  I think I will try to start up a monthly game night.  People can come over to our place and we will play games and hang out.  Dancing - I could start belly dancing again.  Lessons are still ongoing. Hiking-Yes, I miss hikin...

Am I really 31?!

I had clear intentions for this post, but first I'm going to have a ramble session.  I was reading my bio and realized it said I had recently turned 30, and then I realized this blog was a bit on the older side.  Which led me to realize that I'm actually 31.  I had to get out a calculator and subtract my birth year from the current year to fully realize this.  I've been telling everyone I'm 30 and I think I've put that on a few important applications.  I honestly thought I was still 30.  Does this happen to everyone as you get older?  Do you just randomly forget how old you are?  What a strange thing... Today marks day four of my vacation.  I have had lots of time to rest and think.  I typed something for myself yesterday that really resonated with me.  I hope it marks a shift in my attitudes and perspective.  "I want to work out because I love my body, not because I hate it."  I hope I can make this true.  Along wi...

Happy Holiday Weekend!

Happy Independence Day Everyone!  I know I'm 2 days early for that, but I probably won't blog on the 4th.  To celebrate: Picture taken from: http://knowyourmeme.com/photos/588543-america-fuck-yeah  On a related note, I want someone to run a Dungeons and Dragons game and let me play this as my character!  Okay, moving on..... The last few months have been crazy.  My grandma passed away, which resulted in a large family get together.  I live in the south, so this is what happens for every wedding and funeral.  You meet cousins, aunts, and uncles that you forgot you had.  As part of the family get together, my brother and his family flew back stateside.  He is stationed in Japan.  After visiting with them I got super excited about Japan again.  I have always wanted to go, but it just hasn't worked out.  Well, my husband and I decided that it was now or never.  We have a free place to stay and someone who can show us...

Weight Watchers vs. LoseIt!

I'm once again struggling with sticking to Weight Watchers.  At this point I would like to talk about all the wonderful things weight watchers has to offer.  I lost 12 pounds when I stuck to weight watchers all the time.  It helped me change my mentality around food.  Now, when I'm looking for something to snack on I try to add veggies or fruit to it, always!  It has a fantastic support group.  Between the Connect feature on the app and the meetings you need not look far for support.  If you are new to healthy eating, or need a big change to get your health and weight loss started, Weight Watchers is a fantastic place to look.  It truly has helped me and I appreciate it for what it is. Now the reasons I am struggling with weight watchers.  Sometimes I would eat really high points during the day and have very little left for dinner, but by the time I got home from work, I was STARVING.  Which for me means I start to eat everything in si...

Shoes and Food

Good Morning World! I've been in a pretty big funk lately.  I guess that is what I can call it.  It has been a weird one.  I will be fine and then suddenly I hate everything.   Today I'm feeling pretty good, which is great because I have a lot to get done.  My ankle has mostly recovered.  I started running again this week.  I could barely make 1/2 a mile without being winded though.  Its amazing how much being out for just a few weeks will put you behind.  I ended up hiking for 2 hours this week just to get a good burn in since I couldn't run.  I'm one of those ridiculously stubborn people and when I can't run I just don't exercise.  I tried looking up exercises to do with a sprained ankle, but I did not do them.  I hate doing exercise unless its the exact exercise I want to do at the time.  I got a new pair of running shoes to start with too.  I got the Saucony Peregrine.  Before I get into the shoes,...
