Fitbit Fiasco

This week was not so great.  I worked lots of extra hours, and  I sometimes feel like my primary function is to baby sit adults.  I didn't get enough sleep this week, and I have been ravenously hungry.  I have at least figured out what caused The Hungry.  I quit taking birth control about a month ago and its hormone time.  Que all the usual suspects: hunger, fatigue, irritability, and general aches.  On the bright side, my knee has been feeling better so I have been going for short walks.  While I did not stay under on calories, I did meet my exercise goals, so at least I've got that going for me.  Now, onto the Fitbit story! I'm sure everyone knows what Fitbit is and the line of fitness products they offer.  ( www.fitbit.com )  Through a health program at work, I received a free one about 6 months ago.  Unfortunately, I lost it after a short time.  Then I started having knee problems so I never purchased a new one....

This Week

I talked about The Hungry in my last post.  Due to having The Hungry last week, this week is going to be hard.  I feel like I am starting over again; which, in a way, I am.  I don't have significant weight loss from week to week so anytime I go off track I either gain it back or if I'm lucky I will maintain.  I'm not going to weigh myself tomorrow.  I will wait until August to do it.  I am giving myself more time to lose weight and adjust to eating more healthy and less calories.  Earlier tonight I was pretty frustrated because if I was able to run I would have almost zero consequences for eating how I did this week.  Unfortunately I am still unable to run due to my knee condition.  My knee has improved so I have hope that I will be able to run again, but waiting is awful!  I hate being injured!  However, improvement is improvement and I will take what I can get.  I was able to go for a walk tonight (almost 1 mile!) and my ...

The Hungry

I've made it about two weeks into my diet.  Things were going really well until The Hungry struck.   The Hungry can strike at any time and when it happens I can throw my diet out the window.  How can you tell The Hungry from regular food cravings?  Scenario number 1: I'm sitting on the couch and I want some chocolate.  I eat a piece of chocolate, and the craving goes away.  Scenario number 2:  I'm sitting on the couch and I want some chocolate.  I eat a piece of chocolate and the craving doesn't go away.  I eat something really good for me and I still feel like there is a pit in my stomach.  I try fruit, lean protein, veggies, fiber, all the things that should kill a craving, but nothing helps.  I finally give in and eat 25 hot wings, chocolate cake, almonds, a jar of nutella (you get the idea).  I feel satisfied.  Then an hour or two later The Hungry hits again. The Hungry is not appeased by one binge eating se...

Weekly Update 2 (with Cats)

This week I did not meet all my goals.  I tracked Lose It for 6 of the 7 days.  I only did 1 additional exercise.  I did however complete all leg exercises for the week.     I would say not too shabby over all.  All I can do is keep making goals and keep trying to meet them.  I think maybe this week I will add in a schedule.  Maybe it will help keep me on track for exercise.   Goals for the Week of 13 July 2015 Track Lose It! for 7 days straight. Complete 4 days of leg exercises. Complete 2 other exercises. Monday: x Tuesday: Leg, Other Wednesday: Leg Thursday: x Friday: Leg Saturday: Other Sunday: Leg  Ideally, I will complete all exercises immediately after work.  Except Wednesday when I complete them immediately after taking my cat to the vet.   This is my kitty that is going to the vet on Wednesday.  Her name is Demon.  It is a very fitting name for her.

Motivation Wall

This week's motivation I'm making a motivation wall.  I know there are several different versions of this out there, but I'm making one that works for me.  I thought about making it completely electronic and maybe even just post the motivation on here, but I really need something that is in my face because I get lazy and want to give up.  I've only been doing this for a short time and I already can't stop thinking about ice cream and chicken wings.  I also get discouraged when I don't see massive results very quickly.  This last part is especially difficult for me right now since I can't do super intense exercise.  I'm hoping a more in your face motivation board will help keep me on track. First I decided where I wanted to place it.  I chose it the wall between my living room and dining room.  It is also directly across from my kitchen.  I walk by it about a million times a day. Next I chose a medium.  I kept it simple and ju...

Weekly Update

Motivational photo for the week I will keep this post short and sweet.  I didn't hit all my goals last week, so I'm adjusting them for this week. My goals for the week of 6 July 2015: Tracks Lose It! everyday Leg exercises x 3 Other exercise x 2

Red, White, and Blue Panna Cotta

I have been trying to decide what direction to take my blog in.  I know that I want this to be about health and fitness and recovery, but I have been trying to decide what else to do.  I think I'm going to start making my posts 1-2 times a week.  I will blog my personal fitness progress, and once a week I think I come up with other topic to discuss. My progress update:  I have done my exercises once, my legs three times, and I have been swimming and pool jogging twice.  I have logged in Lose It! every day so far.  I'm starting to fall behind in it today, but come on, it's the 4th of July.  I'm at my parents house with my entire family.  We are eating good food and drinking delicious drinks. Who wants to stick to calories with all those fun things going on?! Which leads me to my next topic: Red, White, and Blue panna cotta .  I wanted to make a  desert that was delicious, but not quite as heavy as trifle or cheesecake.  The so...
